Shaun White’s all-action hero status has earned him plenty of column inches in the newspapers and snowboard magazines – but chances are your youngest kids, nieces and nephews might not know a whole lot about him.

Now Lerner Publications are telling his life story in a new book aimed at children aged 7 to 11.

It’s part of their Amazing Athletes series which also includes Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and Venus & Serena Williams.

The hardback book contains 32 colour pages and a series of chapters which cover his 2006 Winter Olympics win, his family life, his skateboarding skills and his current high-profile lifestyle.

There are lots of pictures, quotes from Shaun himself and a timeline of selected career highlights.

Snowboarding terminology is highlighted throughout the book in purple and readers can flick to glossary at the back of the book to find out what it all means.

Shaun’s story is a really inspirational tale and should be an interesting read for kids interested in snowboarding or skateboarding.
