Banish the Bar: Mrs May’s Trio Bars

In our continuing search at ways you can Banish the Bar and replace candy with a healthier alternative, we’ve tested out Mrs. May’s Trio Bars. 

They’re called Trio bars because they are a trio of trios of ingredients. That’s 3 nuts (cashews, almonds, pistacios), 3 seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame) and 3 fruits (dates, raisins, and whatever flavor you pick). The flavors they come in are blueberry, cranberry, tropical, and strawberry.

Here’s the ingredient list for the blueberry bars: cashew, almonds, pistachios, blueberries, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dates, raisins, rice malt, natural flavors, evaporated cane juice and sea salt.  If you’re one of those people who won’t eat anything they can’t pronounce you’ll definitely be happy.

If you are not a fan of most nutrition/energy bars then you should try a Trio bar.  I don’t like the texture of a lot of bars but I really enjoyed these. They are crunchy and not super sweet and of course I love the nuts. I tried blueberry, cranberry and tropical and none of the flavors were that strong, but all were good.

Each bar retails for $0.99 but you can find bulk boxes of them at Costco.
