Breast Cancer Awareness Day

During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Care is asking everyone in the UK to get In the Pink and raise funds for the charity.

An In the Pink event is an easy and fun excuse for friends to get together and support the 46,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK.

Aberdeen Snowsports Centre of Garthdee, Aberdeen will be holding an In the Pink event on 28th October 2008. Guests will be invited to try skiing or snowboarding in a taster session or compete in a jam format rider-voted competition.

Beth Woodall said of her event "I wanted to create an event that centered around our passions of snowboarding and skiing, and to spread that passion to all our female friends who may never have thought about trying it.

"I want to communicate the message of awareness while raising money for Breast Cancer Care who offer information and support for everyone affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the UK.

"During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this October 3000 people will be told the devastating news that they have breast cancer. Breast Cancer Care aims to be there for everyone of them, their family and their friends. Every penny raised by my event will help the charity continue their great work ."

Join in by booking a place on our taster sessions running every half hour from 4:30pm through to 7pm. You can try skiing or snowboarding or if you’re feeling daring then why not try both. If you already are a skier or snowboarder then join in the jam competition on the freestyle slope from 7pm. There are some great prizes up for grabs and all winners will be rider voted. Even the best costume wins a prize so get inventing. There will also be a raffle and BBQ so everyone can get involved.
