Finnish upstart Enni Rukajärvi claimed the slopestyle title and $20,000 at the 29th Burton US Open last weekend in Vermont.
For most of the season Jamie Anderson has seemed unstoppable, and she was able to claim the Overall TTR title just by qualifying for the slopestyle finals. However she was unable to claim yet another title this season, thanks to the efforts of Enni Rukajärvi in the rainy conditions. Jamie pulled out the stops with a big switch backside 540 indy, but Rukajarvi was able to top Anderson by two points with a run including frontside 360 indy grab, a backside 540 indy grab and a Cab 540 mute grab. Young Norwegian rider Silje Norendal took third place.
“It felt really amazing to win today,” said Rukajärvi. “The Burton US Open is such a big event, so it really means a lot to win here. Even though the weather was difficult, the course was great and super fun to ride.”
