The results of the 2004 Snow Awards have been announced. Special congratulations¬†from us to¬†those in the winter website category – the excellent Natives website won that while Theboarder.co.United Kingdom (which¬†has just become www.snowboardclub.co.United Kingdom) ¬†came third.
Every three minutes a woman in the US is diagnosed with breast cancer; in the UK one in nine women will get breast cancer.¬† Over 63,000 women in the US and UK combined¬†die from breast cancer each year.¬† Unfortunately, with these growing numbers there are very few people whose lives haven‚Äôt been touched by breast cancer.
The Outdoor Life Network’s Winter Gravity Games will be hosted by Colorado’s Copper Mountain from March 3rd to 6th, 2005.
The event will feature approximately 175 of the World’s best athletes competing in nine medal events, including: men’s and women’s snowboard halfpipe, men’s and women’s boardercross, men’s and women’s snowboard slopestyle, men’s ski halfpipe, men’s skiercross and men’s ski slopestyle.¬†¬†
Burton is launching its first customised board programme later this month.
The Series 13 programme will let you choose your board’s artwork, finish, sidewall colours, base design and even the 3D or 2X stance design. Four high-end Burton board models can be customized on the website – the Baron ES, Custom X, Feelgood ES and T6. There will be more than a million design combinations to choose from overall – so you could create something really unique.

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA-¬† Smitten, the first female snowboard shop in Los Angeles, held their grand opening on Saturday, October 10th. Smitten was founded by Sharon Baltazar and Liza Sacilioc and their husbands.
The US National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) has launched a new website to promote freestyle terrain safety. Freestyleterrain.org contains info on freestyle terrain, information on safety equipment and a streaming video of public service announcements from well-known professional riders.
Wanaka’s Snow Park NZ is hosting a four day Spring Fiesta from October 14th to 17th. The event series will play host to some of New Zealand’s best skiers and snowboarders and will feature halfpipe, slopestyle, rail and quarterpipe jam sessions.
Each of the events are free to enter and are open to skiers and
snowboarders of any age.

Jam Format in the Super Pipe.¬† Commencing at 12pm lunchtime
Friday 15th October: Rail Battle
Jam Format starting at 12pm. With a game of skate in between.
Wanaka’s Snow Park NZ is hosting a four day Spring Fiesta from October 14th to 17th.
Scotland’s top student skiers and snowboarders will be heading to the Midlothian Ski Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday November 6th for the Scottish Universities Snowsport Championships.
There’s another event to add to the packed forthcoming weekend of snow events in London. On Saturday 16th, Method DVD/Mag is teaming up with Hurley and TSA to¬† host a party to premiere Absinthe Films’ POP and Psykopit’s Fun. You’ll also be able to meet some of the riders in the film and get them to sign your copies of the productions. The party takes place at the Kensington Tavern, Russel Gardens from 19.30 – with the films starting at 9pm. Entry costs ¬£4 and there’s an afterparty at Club Cougar.
The state of NJ and the Mills Corporation kicked off the construction phase of the Meadowlands Xanadu complex on Wednesday with a ground breaking celebration. The party included a kicker sessioned by pro snowboarder Tyler Emond and pro skier Paul Cotter in the middle of the dining room! Special guests included supermodel Christy Brinkely.
The Burton World Tour kicked off their US leg with a 3 day stop in the Big Apple.¬†
Tuesday night the Burton crew took over Avalon (formerly the Limelight) for an insane party that filled every nook and cranny of the converted church.¬† With 3 levels everyone had a great view (except if you were trying to find your friends).
