Got a snow trip planned and can’t resist checking the forecast and gloating to your mates that you’re snowbound? Myslopes.com – a website featuring info on more than 1000 winter destinations – has launched a new Facebook application.
You can get the latest snow conditions, weather forecasts and slope conditions on the resort of your choice and start a countdown to your trip. You can also share your opinions and thoughts on the resorts you visit – and these can be seen on Myslopes.com too. A similar application for other social networks including MySpace, Hi5, Orkut, Hyves and Netlog was launched earlier in the year.
Roxy and Quiksilver have launched a search to find the next Torah Bright or Travis Rice.
In their Radar competition they want to find out about skiers and snowboards aged 8 to 13 who have what it takes to become the next snowsports superstar. The winning rider or skier will take part in the European Winter X Games in Tignes in 2010, attend a week-long summer camp and win a year’s riding contract with the Quiksilver or Roxy team.
Participating Quiksilver and Roxy shops will be transformed for the occasion into talent-spotters, with the winning shop being awarded a week in the Hossegor “Quik house”, as well as an invitation to the Winter X Games Europe, held in Tignes.
The 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge was due to take place in Oslo over the new year. Sadly warmer temperatures than normal over the last couple of months have made it impossible for the organisers to produce enough snow in time so the event has been postponed and will be held in March instead. Confirmed date to come when we have it.
A new film based on the after hours activities at the Manchester Chill Factore slope will premiere on Wednesday December 16.
The movie features top UK skiers and riders including Colum Mytton and Joe Tomlinson and sees them putting together and sessioning some huge features into the early hours. It was filmed in HD and there are female riders featured as well as the guys.

The seventh Roxy Chicken Jam will be hitting Saalbach Hinterglemm in Austria from January 8 to 10. The world’s best female freestylers – Cheryl Maas (NED), Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR),and Lisa Filzmoser (AUT) – will be hitting the park to compete for the US$50,000 prize purse and all important TTR points.
Nikita are launching a new series of girls only events in Switzerland this winter. The first Nikita Chickita Swiss Tour will hit five Swiss resorts.. Five slopestyles, one rail contest and photoshoots are planned. The NCST 09-10 will start in December and finishes in March. The first qualifying set will be held on January 16 in Villars (VD).
