In London, Go Skate Day was marked by the opening of Made of Skate – an exhibition exploring the history and cultural context of skateboarding footwear.
Skaters and industry folk from all over the world headed to Studio 95 at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane for the opening (and the free beer and cool Blueprint Oystercard holders).
The exhibition is ace – battered skate shoes and skateboards of all shapes and sizes and amazing photography and board art. You can also relax and take it all in while sitting on one of the much-loved concrete benches used by skaters at the South Bank before the area’s revamp.
The show is open 11am to 6pm until Sunday July 8 and is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area – www.madeforskate.com
