Top riders featured in new Christian snowboard movie
Oneyear isn’t your average snowboard movie. It was produced by the Nations Foundation, a non profit Christian organisation based in Seattle.
Andy Finch is one of the riders who appeared in the film, which was funded entirely by donations. He held a premiere at his house in Truckee earlier this year, although a full film tour is planned for the New Year.
“Whenever I was home we would film and every time God opened up a window for us to shoot,” he told the Sierra Sun newspaper. “The project was just blessed.”
Finch was brought up a Christian but rediscovered his faith fully in his early 20s.
“When I started (snowboarding) I didn’t know any [Christian riders],” he told the paper. “It’s pretty amazing the riders that have been saved. … Now when everyone starts getting belligerent I go home and wake up refreshed.”
The film mainly focuses on the life and travels of Finch, whose father was almost killed in a shooting during a high-speed police chase in autumn 2007.
“It’s only through my faith in God I’ve gotten through this year,” Finch said. “There’s no anger — just sadness.”
The film also features other riders such as Kelly Clark, Tommy Czeschin, Matt Hammer, Janna Meyen and Dave Downing. Janna Meyen attended the Washington premiere of the movie in Post Angeles a couple of weeks ago.
