Who Will Be Crowned TTR Champ at the Roxy Chicken Jam?

The Women's Swatch TTR World Tour Champ will be decided this weekend at the Roxy Chicken Jam. Jamie Anderson is currently sitting in first place, but she ruptured her spleen at the US Open last weekend and won't be competing. Jamie's injury opens the door for someone else to overtake her.

So who can beat Jamie Anderson? There are a few women with a good shot.

Rank Name Nation # Events Score
1 Anderson, Jamie USA 7 821.35
2 Wiik, Lisa NOR 7 785.99
3 Candrian, Sina SUI 7 746.88
4 Mittermueller, Silvia GER 7 719.10
5 Pancochova, Sarka CZE 7 690.73
6 Hollingsworth, Ellery USA 7 669.84
7 Oestgaard Buaas, Kjersti NOR 5 659.45
8 Maas, Cheryl NED 6 651.58
9 Clark, Kelly USA 5 644.77
10 Karlinski, Jordie USA 7 597.25

TTR Rankings are decided by taking the top 7 TTR scores and averaging them. Riders get TTR points awarded depending on where they place in an event and the TTR Stars awarded for that an event.  For a Six Star event like the Roxy Chicken Jam a rider gets 1000 points for 1st place.

Lisa Wiik is currently in second place and 35 points behind Anderson.  By my calculations,* Wiik can overtake Anderson's score be either placing first in halfpipe or slopestyle or placing 5th or better in both events.

Wiik's countrywoman Kjersti Buass has an even better shot despite currently being ranked 7th. Buass only has 5 events to her name so far so she any points she gets will be added to her current score. Wiik has 7 events so she must do better than her lowest scores (714 and 722) to boost her overall score.

For Buass to overtake Anderson's score she only needs 1134 points. She can achieve that by placing 21st or better in both events. Buass could even do it by placing say 17th and 26th.

Several other women can also potentially overtake Jamie Anderson and claim the TTR Crown and $50,000 in prize money. Kelly Clark is in a similar situation as Kjersti Buass. She's sitting in 9th place with only 5 events. However Clark does not appear on the invited riders list for the slopestyle competition. She needs 1239 points to overtake Jamie Anderson and will not be able to do so unless she competes in both events.

One person who can't is Torah Bright. She currently only has 3 events under her belt and needs 2900 points to win. The maximum points a rider can get at the Roxy Chicken Jam is 2000.

So what's my prediction? I have to go with Kjersti Buass. She's coming off a great performance at the US Open and she has a lot of ways she can win. Plus Kjersti has a history of placing well in both events, while some of the women near her in the standings tend to do much better in one event than the other.

Remember the TTR winner is going to have to both overtake Jamie Anderson and outscore the other competitors at the Chicken Jam. I think Buass is best equiped to do that.

*Calculations are based on my understanding to TTR Rankings are not guaranteed to be 100% correct.

Go Kjersti, I really want her to win and I reckon she can do it. Dare I say easily!! You never know though, and anything can happen. Should be a great comp this weekend.
