Anne-Flore Marxer on her new fragrance for Les Ettes

European snowboarding fragrance crew Les Ettes have launched two new perfumes for spring/summer 2009. Sol-ette and Flore-ette are bright, summery fragrances on sale now.

You may have noticed that Flore-ette bares a familiar name - yup it's the fragrance of pro rider Anne-Flore Marxer.

We caught up with her to find out how the perfume came about.

How did you get involved with the Les Ettes crew?

I met Carmela, Les Ettes founder through my friend and very talented photographer Matthieu Georges who introduced the both of us. He knew about Carmela's perfume brand she had just started at that time.

Carmela is a wonderful young woman with great ideas and ideals, who puts all her work and believes into her project which is now her brand, she nice, funny, humble and she smells good!

Her project was really cool and I wanted to be part of it. We have been good friends since then. She is French too which leaves us a lot of room to chat a lot.

We hear your perfume is inspired by a trip to Tahiti - tell us about  your visit - it sounds fantastic!

I went to Tahiti twice for the Billabong surf contest in Teahupo and it really is paradise on earth. There are flowers everywhere and the sent of the flower of Tiare surrounds you everywhere on the island.

I was there with my boyfriend for three weeks, we surfed, paddle boarded, scuba dived, ate, laugh and just relaxed all day everyday... it was so fun.

We travelled a bit around the different islands, we got to swim with skates, we discovered that crabs hiked palmtrees to eat coconut and that octopus had a secret talent to imitate toilet paper!

I had never seen so many fish or stars in the sky.

How would you describe the scent of your fragrance?

It smells like peace, happiness and summertime with friends... it's quite light and intimate.

The scent is the result of a mix of apricot, orange trees flower and the tahitian flower of tiare.

You were also involved in the design of the package - how did that process work?

I just like to get involved 100% in what I do and I like to share my thoughts.

Developing products like boards and outerwear is a big part of my job and I enjoy it. It happened quite naturally for me to get involved with this too in the simple form of feedback and brainstorming. I mean I didn't invent anything, I just like to help create products I feel attracted too.

And in the case of Flore-ette it was an instant coup de foudre! I loved it straight away and I knew it was ettte!

Now that the snow season has ended - how do you plan to spend the summer?

I'll be surfing everyday with my friends, spending some time with my family, fixing my place, hosting a show for Eurosport, travelling a bit here and there for my sponsors, resting and relaxing. dancing and having fun.

Apart from your new fragrance (obviously!) what things do you make sure you have with you when you're on your travels?

I like to travel around with a card game for lay overs and transportations delay. A couple days ago I was in a middle of the mountains on a dirt road which ended up being a piste for horses and not a road. Anyways the car was overheating and we had to stop every 3km just to avoid the engine from blowing up. We took 11 hours to drive 60km. I was so happy to have a card game with me that day too!

I like to travel light, with a passport,my Oakleys pink frogskins, a pair of flip flops, a tooth brush and a small travel pillow. That way I feel home everywhere!
