Marmot Basin installing longest high speed quad in the Alberta Rockies

Jasper's Marmot Basin in Alberta is taking on a significant ski lift development for the upcoming season, and it's not even summer yet! What's being worked on? It's the longest new high-speed quad chairlift in the Alberta Canadian Rockies.

The slope length is approximately 2,300 meters and a vertical rise of 596 meters, and replaces the Tranquilizer Chair and the Kiefer T-Bar. The bottom terminal will be at the base of the lower mountain adjacent to the existing Eagle Express quad chair terminal.

The lift will take 2,400 passengers per hour from the base, and unload them at the top of the soon-to-be-removed Kiefer T-Bar. The lift will have 800 horse power, top-drive engine, and will go at a speed of 5.08 meters per second. The total ride time is estimated to be 7.5 minutes.

So, how much does all this cost? The new lift system will run a tab of $8 million. But that's not the only new thing you¹ll see at Marmot Basin. Marmot Basin's new shareholder group invested over another $8 million over the past five years in new developments and infrastructure.

This new lift will be ready for opening day in November of this year. For more information, visit www.skiingjasper.com
