Vans history documented in new book
Vans have published a book charting the brand's 43 year history. The book, wrapped in original Vans chequered canvas, features oral histories from celebrities including Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, Marc Jacobs and Stacy Peralta. It also showcases Vans models year-by-year in a special appendix.
The book also tells the story of the waffle sole, looks at the legacy of the 80s BM scene and shares punk rock tales from the Vans Warped Tour.
The picture on the right is of Frenchman Dimitri Coste who has amassed the most complete collection of Vans known. The distance between the French countryside and Southern California has done little to dampen Coste’s 25-year obsession and collection that numbers more than 500 pairs.

The book was written by Vans VP of marketing Doug Palladini who was the founding editor of Snowboarder magazine and later held the role of group publisher for Emap Peterson's Snowboarder, Surfer, Skateboarder, Powder, Bike, Box and Gravity magazines.
The book costs £12.99 in the UK, 24.99 euros or $24.95 in the USA. Stick it on your Christmas list now...
