Formigal in Spanish Pyrenees gearing up for massive girl's party and fancy dress fiesta
You wouldn't have thunk it, but a saint's day gives women in Spain an opportunity to strip blokes of their shirts - and anything else they fancy!
Villages all over Spain - including the resort of Formigal - see women hitting the bars on Friday February 5 in honour of the early Christian martyr (or Saint Agatha) who was cruelly tortured and eventually put to death, but not before both her breasts were brutally cut off. She's held as a representative of strong women and partying women often round off their night of celebrations with two rounds of cakes with cherries on top. Blimey.
Just week later, it's carnival season. Formigal is going for a swinging sixties theme so if you're in the area between February 13 and 15 then don't forget your Mary Quant tights and plastic boots.
