Feeling Meri?

The next time you enjoy an après beer while listening to some scruffy-looking long-haired ski-bums strum tunes on their guitar, take a little bit more interest. It might only be The bloody Feeling. Actually it probably won’t be The Feeling, now that they are super successful and touring the world. But back in 2001 gigging across ski resorts was exactly how they cut their teeth. So in honour of their humble snow beginnings (and their ridiculous passion for sliding on snow) they have organised “The World’s Most Scenic Music Festival” and invited all of their super cool celeb friends.

From March 13 to 19 Meribel will play host to 30 separate music events combining small bar gigs, a huge on-piste main event, an indoor dance party featuring some of Europe’s best DJs and plenty of après-ski thrown in. Acts confirmed so far include Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Fiction Plane, Ed Harcourt, Sinead and the Dawnbreakers, 10cc’s Graham Gouldman and Squeeze’s Glen Tilbrook with many more to be announced.  We are also promised one special night featuring intimate collaborations between all the artists. One wristband lets you cruise around everywhere, which sounds like my kind of fuss free festival.

But why are they doing it when there are already so many other snow festivals going on.

“We love festivals, we love skiing, we have a history as a band in ski resorts. It combines all our passions. To have the luxury to go back where we started out together and to build our own boutique festival experience is a great privilege.”

Well that just sounds super nice. And judging by the success of their 2008 free on-piste gig to 6,000 happy Meribel-ians fans this festival is not to be missed.

Important piece of information:
Now I am not saying that he will definitely be there, but I know, for a fact, that The Feeling count the devastatingly handsome Kiefer Sutherland among one of their closest friends…. They are brilliant in so many ways.
