Mt Hutt's Big Park Opens...and crack is addictive

When you no longer have the luxury of lots of mid-week riding, you have to make do with weekend warrior shred.  Despite school holidays and long lift lines, we still managed to have so much fun with sunny blue skies, no wind, a good crew and good home baking.

The big park at Mt Hutt got set up last weekend with some fun hits: 2 jumps, a 15 footer and a 20 footer.  Then there was a jib line with a long flat-down box, an up rail, and 2 high boxes.  With the big park being set up, the beginner park suddenly got very empty.

In previous seasons, I found that while there were some good beginner features, there wasn't much in the way of progression with intermediate features.  It was either ride the beginner park or ride the big park.  But the season in Utah prepared me well.  Actually, most features aren't too intimidating to ride...and most of the gaps onto features weren't too intense.  I haven't hit the up-rail or the second jump yet but I'll give it a go soon...before they make it even bigger!

Some good riding went down from the girls in our crew.  Kristie started hitting her first ever urban stuff, side entry and all.  Rebecca, who only started riding some park this year, is doing 3s on boxes and riding rails already!

Fun times this weekend with the crew...  Funniest moment will go to Tom - sitting down to strap in, oblivous to the fact that the guy sitting next to him had A LOT of butt crack showing.  Meanwhile, all 7 of us were on the ground in hysterics.  Photos were taken and Tom still had no idea what was going on.  One of those moments where all you have to do, is mention the word "crack" and everyone loses it.

The great weekend was topped off by the best (and cheapest) Thai yellow curry in Christchurch! You can't beat the Riccarton Noodle House.
