Eastpak open Icon store in London’s Carnaby Street

Last Thursday I spent the evening supping champagne and cocktails at the opening of Eastpak’s flagship London store (it’s a terrible life I know).

The store is at No. 1 Carnaby Street and has two floors of lovely clothing, bags, luggage and accessories – the first time you can view and purchase all Eastpak lines in one place in the UK.

Hundreds of people turned out for the opening party – once inside we giggled at passing tourists and shoppers getting the fright of their life when they saw the zombie models keeping watch outside the store.

Inside there were fantastic DJs and tunes from Carl Barat of the Dirty Pretty Things.

The music won’t stop now though. There’s an open decks policy in the store – people will be invited to DJ in the store at the weekends to promote upcoming talent.

There’s also art on offer through a collaboration with the StolenSpace Gallery. The store will curate regular exhibitions of work from the gallery which promotes art influenced by skate, graffiti, comic book and tattoo art and culture.

Eastpak’s ‘Tag My pack’ crew – which features top graffiti artists – will also be visiting the store and key Eastpak stockists throughout the UK to offer customers some unique customised art on their new packs for no extra cost – nice!

There’s only one other Icon store in Europe (in Milan) and you can find others in cities including Moscow and Sao Paulo.
