Roxy Chicken Jam to hit Saalbach in January

The seventh Roxy Chicken Jam will be hitting Saalbach Hinterglemm in Austria from January 8 to 10. The world’s best female freestylers – Cheryl Maas (NED), Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR),and Lisa Filzmoser (AUT) – will be hitting the park to compete for the US$50,000 prize purse and all important TTR points. 

First Women in Boardsports retreat taking place in Switzerland in October

Some of the top women in the boardsports world will be gathering in Saas-Fee for a long weekend of networking, learning and sharing in the autumn. From October 29 to November 1, they’ll be gathering to enjoy the resort’s snow, spa facilities, yoga classes and good food.
There’ll also be panel discussions with women in the insutry including media, events organisers, professional athletes and brand representitives.

US tour for new girls surf movie Dear and Yonder

Dear and Yonder is a new surf movie for the summer by Tiffany Campbell and Andria Lessler. It features well known female surfers and new names and hits the shores of Indonesia, Mexico and lots of other stunning places.

There’s an extensive tour taking place to support the movie with lots of free goodies, meet and greets and parties in conjuntion with film sponsor Roxy.

Hemel happiness

“Yes you can, because we’re not MK…” was the catchphrase of the night. It’s the second freestyle Park and Ride night and my first time up at the new Hemel Snow Centre.
I’m blatantly not the only first-timer up there, as there’s others sharing my awe at the building and slope. Some guy thought I worked there, asking questions about how I (yes, me personally) get the snow so much better than the other nearby indoor snow centres.

Aberdeen riding-for-breast-cancer event a success

The night kicked off from 4.30 with taster sessions on the beginner slope with lots of people trying out skiing or snowboarding for the first time.  These proved very popular with about 30 people signing up over two hours of half hour sessions.  With the instructors sharing their passion for the sport I think we managed to convert some people into winter lovers ready to embrace the coming winter with the excitement that we at the Aberdeen Snowsports Centre do.

Britain’s best-selling Sunday newspaper is on the lookout for video clips of your snowboarding triumphs and tragedies as part of a new competition.

Extreme sports have long been ignored in the mainstream media but the News Of The World website has bucked the trend – by embracing snowboarding in the countdown to London Freeze. 

The site is piloting extreme sports content to see if there are readers beyond the worlds of footie, rugby and motor sport.
