If you’re of an artistic persuasion, there are loads of opportunities for you to win shiny things by designing a snowboard at the moment.
It’s October – that month when our favourite snow and street brands release products to recognise National Breast Cancer Awareness month. This year Etnies have created a special-edition t-shirt and shoes to support Boarding For Breast Cancer. The tee has a tonal pink look with some unique B4BC artwork and the shoe is a special pink version of their Perry mid sneaker.

If you’re over the long sleeve tee look, Burton have a tasty addition to their base layer collection this season.
The Flannel has all the cool looks of a classic plaid shirt but is made of wicking fabric that draws moisture away from your skin – helping you stay cool on hot days and keeping you nice and warm on colder ones.
If you fancy bagging yourself some top quality base layers for the forthcoming season, hotfoot it down to the Howies shop in Carnaby Street, London. They’ve got some ace deals on their lovely layers. You can pick up punked Merino Long Johns and longsleeve tops for £35 (down from £50) and lightweight NBL longsleeve tops for £28, down from 40.
There are also some nice streetwear end of summer bargains online at www.howies.co.uk if you’re not near London.

Leanne Pelosi and Marie-France Roy have signature colorway shoes out from etnies this month.
Leanne’s shoe is a black and gold version of the Rap Super Slim (RSS) with a printed footbed inspired by vintage wallpaper.
Burton Snowboards have been working with Paul Smith Jeans to produce their third limited-edition collection.
This range is larger than previous collaborations and as well as offering outerwear pieces, it includes jeans, t-shirts, snowboarding first layer garments, sweatshirts and jackets. It’s all for men though.
The focal point is a bondage-inspired fully-functional snowboard jacket (as worn by Chris Sörman in the picture above right). It’s available in black shiny rubber and jacquard leopard print. A selection of patchwork trimmed t-shirts and sweatshirts are also available in black, white and purple colorways.
With hundreds of boards, bindings and boots to try out at the Snowboard Test each year (click here to see my article about the test) it’s a matter of testing as much as possible, as quickly as possible.
Nikita have been working with Kimi Records in Iceland to make some short movies featuring their new collections. There’ll be films where you can check out the next three collections but for now you can check out the spring summer 2009 collection in some cool clips featuring music from Borko, Hjaltalín, Retro Stefson and Morðingjanir.
Nikita Marketing Manager, Ásgeir Höskuldsson says, “To us good music embodies the essence of what good streetwear is also about. We love being able to work with a company like Kimi and the wide variety of artists it has on its label.
