US artist Keren Richter has done a second design collaboration with Vans. She’s designed this bag and boots combo for their spring summer collection.  Her colourful, etherial designs are inspired by 60s iconography and the psychedelic pop culture movement of the mid 60s.

Keren grew up in San Francisco, going to punk shows and skateboarding, before heading to Parsons School of Design and Columbia University.

Her portfolio includes t-shirts, album covers, posters, logos and shorts for MTV.

Posted by & filed under gear.

Westbeach are designing a snowboard jacket for their 2010/2011 winter collection to support the Keep A Breast Foundation. This organisation’s mission is to  help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. They hope to do this through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts.

Thirty percent of online and 10% of retail sales of this jacket will go to Keep A Breast. The lining of the jacket will feature anonymous images of boobs of all shapes and sizes and Westbeach are looking for images to include.

They are inviting any ladies over the age of 18 to submit a photo of their breast – nude or wearing a bra – to be included on the lining print.

My headgear has never been something my work colleagues and non-snowboarding friends have taken an interest in before.  But the death of actress Natasha Richardson has highlighted the potential for serious head injuries on the slopes.

She died after hitting her head on a beginner’s ski slope last Monday in Canada. It wasn’t a serious accident and she appeared unhurt by the fall – but was taken ill soon afterwards and died on Wednesday.

Three ways to store your snowboard at home

I’ve got a cupboard in the hall where I store my snowboards. It’s also supposed to hold my iron, ironing board, powderroom.net banners and a whole load of other nonsense. However it’s bulging so much it doesn’t close properly any more.
