Zoe Gillings wins first boardercross World Cup of season

Britain’s Zoe Gillings has won the first FIS boardercross FIS World Cup event of the 04/05 season.

In the event at Chile’s Valle Nevado, 19-year-old Gillings beat Kathrin Kellenberger (SUI), Austrian Manuela Riegler and Lindsey Jacobellis (USA) in the women’s final run to win her first World cup event.

Canada’s Drew Neilson took the crown in the men’s event.

Burton sponsors snowboard art exhibit

Rides of Passage, a unique exhibit of snowboards, will make it’s debut at the 2004 Woodstock Tattoo & Body Arts Festival. Burton has teamed up with the festival to present 125 unique Burton snowboards transformed into artwork by artists including Stash, Futura, Filip Leu, Don Ed Hardy, Aaron Cain, Sean Crofoot, Adrian Lee, Joe Capobianco, Jime Litwalk, Jason D’ Aquino, Mario Desa, Gunnar, Jeff Proctor, Paco Excel, Ron Earhart, and Tristan Eaton. The festival is September 17-19 in Woodstock, NY.

FIS World Cup season to start in Chile

The¬†NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup will start in Chile’s Valle Nevado with the first boardercross competitions being held September 16 ‚Äì 18.

Last season, the snowboard cross in Valle Nevado had to be cancelled due to warm weather.

But for a skateboarder in the 80s, Mark ‘Gator’ Rogowski was one of a group of American skaters -also including Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain and Steve Caballero – who became icons of their generation. They were big-earning, party-hard globe trotters with huge sponsorship deals and an army of fans round the world.

Meyen, Pelosi and Bleiler win at TransWorld Snowboarding Riders’ Poll Award

Three ace ladies won awards at the 6th Annual TransWorld Snowboarding Riders’ Poll Awards last week. ThirtyTwo rider Janna Meyen was chosen Rider of the Year in a poll voted for by 100 of the World‚Äôs top professional snowboarders. Janna had a fantastic season in 03/4 – claiming X Games gold in slopestyle, 1st place at the Triple Crown and 1st in both slopestyle and the rail ram at The Session in Vail. ‚ÄúThis means a lot to me,‚Äù she said when she went to collect her award. ‚ÄúSometimes I feel like I get overlooked. I just love riding my snowboard.‚Äù

Afterlame premiere tour dates

Robot Food’s latest film, Afterlame, made its World premiere on September 3rd hosted by Westbeach the shop and Bonfire in Vancouver, BC, Canada to a packed theatre of anxious snowboarders. The film was hand delivered out of the Robot Food editing room in Portland, OR that very same morning.

Amongst the audience members to view Afterlame for the first time was rider Chris Engelsman, one of the talented riders from the film.
