While perusing online publication Plastics News (you mean you don’t read it??) I found a report that Burton Snowboards is moving producton of its premium snowboards from the US to Austria.
The company is shutting the Burton Manufacturing Center in South Burlington, Vermont in June and moving production to Austria – where it has been making boards for 25 years.
You might have seen in the news in the last week that Snowsports GB (SSGB), the national governing body for skiing and snowboarding in the UK, has gone into administration.
Adidas recently held a competition to find a design for the goggles that will be worn by British adidas eyewear sponsored athletes at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Young designers were invited to send in their creations based on the new iD2 goggle to the Talenthouse contest – with a tidy $20,000 prize fund up for grabs.
Members of the public voted for their favourite designs and adidas bosses got to pick the winner.

Jasmin Willson has taken on the task of producing this season’s Roxy winter video podcasts. We caught up with to find out how they get put together.
How did you end up taking on the Roxy podcasts?
When the last producer Josie left to take the job as Volcom Girl Team Manager I slipped into it her spot! My boyfriend Gendle is the podcast director/ filmer so we’ve been able to work together over the Winter which has been fun!
What are your main roles in putting them together?
Nikita is looking for a few good performers. They’re hosting a happy hour at Leela’s Cafe in downtown Denver during SIA, the big snowsports industry show. Niktia is inviting bands, DJs and performers to submit entries to win a chance to perform during a Nikita Happy Hour January 28-30, 2010.

A while back we told you that Nikita is opening its first store in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.
If you fancy a job in the snow business, an interesting one has come up in Scotland. SnowsportGB (also known as the British Ski & Snowboard Federation) is looking for a new CEO.
The organisation is responsible for the British teams in all the FIS disciplines within its control. It has five full time staff, a turnover of £1.1m per year and 18 performance staff outside the UK.
It’s looking for someone to provide leadership who will act as the co-ordinator between the Board, staff and athletes and be able to manage the organisation’s financial affairs.
The salary is in the region of £40,000 dependent on experience and is based in Ratho, near Edinburgh.

Laura Hadar is also celebrating a new signing – she has joined the Capita team.
