The Olympic qualifying period got under way for the Sochi Olympic Winter Game with the first 2013 FIS Snowboard World Cup event at Cardrona in New Zealand. Burton has announced that the Burton New Zealand Open is being replaced by the Burton High Fives event. High Fives is an invite-only event that will bring together 60 of the top snowboarders in the world to compete in halfpipe, slopestyle.
The Brits are moving to Tignes, France in 2013. The official dates are March 23rd – 30th. Along with the move, the big air competition is being dropped in favor of a rail event.
