Jamie Anderson racked up another win at the first ever women’s slopestyle competition at the Oakley Arctic Challenge in Norway. Her run included a noseslide, a 50-50 bs 180 mute, a huge ss bs 540, bs 360, a tailslide 270 out and a bs 540 indy on the last jump. Besides the $15,000 first prize, Anderson also earned herself a spot at the 2012 World Championships in Oslo.
After receiving her trophy, Jamie Anderson remarked, “I was never crowned the prom queen, but finally I got my crown.”
A strong showing by the other women in the field included 720s and an attempted backside 900. Canadian Spencer O’Brien placed second, and Jenny Jones added another top 3 finish to her season.
We weren't able to be on hand to cover Sista Sessions this year but the organizers just sent us over this recap! It sounds amazing and we hope we're there to cover it firsthand next year. Check out the videos at the bottom of the article for some of the action.
Last week (19th-23rd January) saw the TTR 3Star Rip Curl Sista Sessions 2011 hit Mayrhofen, Austria in force, with an entourage of female shredders, media, judges, filmers and photographers. Over five crispy cold January days the resort saw pro ladies going on photoshoots, beginners chicks have freestyle lessons, and the amateurs and invited girls battle it out in a friendly format 3Star Swatch TTR Slopestyle and Rail Jam competition.
Anne-Flore Marxer sure knows how to make an entrance. There's nothing like grabbing the first place trophy in your debut event to turn some heads and that's just what AFM did at the Nissan Freeride World Tour in Chamonix/Mont-Blanc.
AFM's win didn't come easy.
“The last three days have been very stressful and I’ve been really tense. But when I got to the top of the course I I realized that is what I usually do! I regained my confidence and rode without hesitation. I’m especially glad that tomorrow is my birthday – I’ll have two reasons to celebrate tonight!”
You can check out her winning run below.

The women on the Swatch TTR tour are about to take on the season’s first 6Star event, the O’Neill Evolution in Davos, Switzerland. They will have a busy schedule this winter with the 6Star Burton European Open coming up in January and another major event, The Oakley Arctic Challenge opening a 6Star slopestyle format for women this season. Other major events in their planning include the 5Star Burton Canadian Open, Nescafé Champs Leysin and US Snowboarding Grand Prix. Some of the world's top women competed today in the Nike 6.0 Winter Dew Tour Halfpipe Prelims. They were looking to score one of six coveted spots in tomorrow's finals at Breckenridge, Colorado.
Kaitlyn Farrington, hot off her win a the Copper Grand Prix last weekend, will be joined by Olympians Sophie Rodriguez, Soko Yamaoka, Queralt Castellet, Elena Hight and Kelly Clark.
The start list and prelim results are below. The women's final begins at 9am on Saturday.
Enni Rukajärvi claimed another slopestyle title at the 2010 Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam, a TTR 4 Star event. The Finnish rider exploded on the slopestyle scene last season, winning nearly every major event she entered as well as the 2010 TTR World Title. Rukajärvi defended her 2009 Pleasure Jam win at Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein.
Rukajärvi and Brit Aimee Fuller both had strong runs heading into the finals, but it was Rukajärvi pulling out the win with a huge Cab 540, frontside 360 and a backside 540. “I just have a good feeling for the park I think,” said Rukajärvi. “It’s just so much fun riding here!”
Some changes are in the mix for the TTR Tour this season. Roxy has cancelled the Chicken Jam due to their event partner pulling out which has resulted in a shorter and more intense tour for the ladies. But this isn’t all bad! Women’s events have been added to to some of the coolest men’s comps – like the Arctic Challenge. They are also introducing initiative to bring more amateur women into the fold.
Here is the list of changes that the TTR sent our way:

The Sista Sessions are back and bigger than ever. With Rip Curl as their title sponsor, the Rip Curl Sista Sessions will take place from January 19th-23rd, 2011 at Mayrhofen, Austria. Sista Sessions will be much more than a competition, with 4 days of “sessions” including lessons, workshops, jam sessions, photoshoots, and parties. Of course there will be a 3Star Swatch TTR Slopestyle competition too.
Sista Sessions is open to women of all levels as they “invite all female snowboarders to come and have the opportunity to learn more, progress, ride with other girls, and compete in a chilled out environment.”
