ok, maybe weird to ask, especially when I don't want a snowy one, but I just thought I'd ask where you ladies had been that you were 'blown away' by, Lucie I know you went on a yoga week to Mexico a while back, what was it like there?

I've been snowboarding for as long as I can remember so haven't really been seeing the rest of the world, I'd love to go on a sunny honeymoon to an amazing place where we can relax under a tree by the sea and just chill, no surfing, no snowboarding, no skating.... I don't think...

We love boutique hotels and the like, we're thinking of going to one of the national parks in the US, Yosemite or Yellowstone, but can't find a nice place to live there, any ideas?

The wedding is mid Sept next year so I guess that limits the 'sunny and hot' places a bit.....

Any of your advice, ideas would be sooo welcome! as you can see, we haven't a clue! haha

I got married at the end of May and we were in the same boat all the holidays we had ever had, had been snowboarding or the occassional visit to my folks in Spain, so we decided a sunny one would be great.
We did a Sandals Holiday in Jamaica, and I could not fault it. We were at the largest one Ocho Rios which although was huge you could easily disappear. A lot of the accommodation is in villas with pools, and our favourite bit was sitting by our own pool, where we could not see anyone all day. The staff were great and would fall over backwards to get you whatever you wanted. Meals were fab, 11 restaurants to choose from, plus you could be as active or as chilled out as you want. Great water sports including scuba diving all free, and my hubby went on the climbing wall. We went with the intention of being sporty but eneded up just chilling. Went on some trips around the island which were gorgeous. The beach is private and along one stretch of it, the shade comes in the form of bent over palm trees, so you can chill out there and a butler will bring you a cocktail. The main pool can be noisy but as I said we just chilled by our own pool surrounded by lush gardens, drinking the contents of our fridge and mini bar. We ran out of juice one day, so I phone up and then 10 mins later they brought a whole box of juices for us. There are two spas in resort which you can just go and enjoy whenever you want. We loved it so much we are hoping to go back next year for our 1st anniversary. I would definately recommend going out and seeing Jamaica, apart from Kingston, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful countryside too. We weren't really sure Sandals was for us, but got a good deal, so glad we went.

Let us know how it goes, and can't wait for the wedding pics!

It was Tulum I went to in Mexico - very unspoilt and relaxing. Not much in the way of luxury hotels with pools but lots of simple collections of huts and shacks. If you wanted to combine that with a bit of luxury you could do a few nights just up the coast at Playa del Carmen. Steer clear of Cancun tho - hideous!

Have you thought about Costa Rica? Lots of fantastic wildlife and scenery (volcanos, rainforests and beaches). I'm dying to go there!

Maldives would be lovely. I think it has a hot season and a hotter season no actual bad weather! Just of sitting around dipping your toes in the water, with the occasional snorkling. Also you can get little huts for your room which are on stilts over the sea.
You could do a week there and then jazz it up and go home via Dubai, for the shopping and general excess. (you could try your hand at sandboarding?)

The far east (thailand or maylsia) is a bit wet in september, but Bali would be ok. Or if you are feeling more adventurage how about Cambodia or Laos ? I *think* Chilli-cat went there or there abouts for her honeymoon so she might be able to update you on things as I can only comment on how nice it looks via pictures from the web!

I went on Kenya for mine (in Oct), 1 weeks beach followed by safari, which I would also recommend. South Africa would be good to.

Good remembering Miffy! Yep, we took 5 weeks from the beginning of December (married Nov 23) and travelled around Vietnam for 2 weeks, then Cambodia for just under a week, then finished off with some relaxing sun and a little bit of travel in Thailand for 2 weeks.

We'd both travelled a lot independently, but as a couple we had also only ever done snowy holidays, and I insisted (as the less obsessed about snow of the two of us!) that our honeymoon needed to be a bit different. So we had a big brainstorming session where we both threw ideas into the proverbial pot of places where we'd always wanted to go. I'd been to Thailand already, but had always wanted to go to Vietnam and Cambodia, and Al had always wanted to go to Thailand. Given the time of year we were getting married (timed to make the most of all the free holidays at Christmas time, but before Christmas so that his rellies could get to NZ in November before the high season price hikes in December), of all the places we considered, Southeast Asia was just the most sensible.

We had an absolute ball. It was also great doing lots of travel in the first part of the holiday, then relaxing at the end. Don't think I could have relaxed for 5 whole weeks, so really enjoyed the travel part of it too.

oh, thanks so much girls,
I'm totally in 'wedding mode' right now, so have seen the Sandals Holidays in a few magazines....
very tempting indeed! Was the hotel in Jamaica really nice? -hehe, can you tell I'm a hotel snob?
I think the sitting down and brainstorming idea is good, I'll try to write everything down and then see what we end up with.
Right now we are swaying towards maybe going to a US National Park (Yosemite or Yellowstone) and trying to find a really nice hotel to stay in, but I think I love the idea of chilling under a palm tree with a cocktail!! -so far from what we usually do!

sorry it took me so long to answer, I must have put my mail warnings off, doh!

You could add Hawaii on after the national park bit? That way you still get palm trees and who knows a bit of surfing!!!
