I've ridden two boards since the beginning of this life. The first 3 years were spent on the cheapest one my father could find and the 5 years since then have been on a Sportschek Firefly. Net worth probably around 50$. What is the best way to upgrade. I usually shred ALOT, being in school has slowed me a bit, since money is tight. I figure that I can put 200 bucks into my new set up. Canadian Dollar.

My question is whether I should:

-go used and get a better quality board

-by an outdated model and more gear(better bindings/more lift tickets

-go for the glory and get a brand new board and only a new board

I suppose the alternative is to keep saving and ride what I've got.

I am proficient at snowboarding. It's smooth, it's fun and there is no hesitation anywhere on the mountain (except the park-obvs)

Help me out ladies :]

Yours,

Emma

If your getting bindings as well as a board then id def go for last season models. A lot of the boards still have the same tech it just the graphics - there are some really good savings to be had.

Otherwise - Do you have anywhere where you can go and demo a few boards at a local shop etc ??? I know a few people who have done this and then gone away and bought the board cheaper off ebay etc. Often they will read up on the tech between the current and last season boards and then just by last seasons if it the same.

Obviously the best thing is to test before you buy but id say whatever you do just just buy any old board because its cheap - gotta make sure if feels right and its something you can progress with.

I second what Snowbadger's saying, go for a previous season's kit and bag more gear, unless you think you'll struggle to get something in the right size, in which case it narrows down your choice a bit.

Happy shopping!
