On Saturday December 1, Rihanna will appear at a free concert to mark the start of the winter season at the Austrian resort of Ischg.

The chairlifts open for the first time on November 30 with the season due to end on May 4 2008.

Sir Elton Jonn, Lionel Richie, Tina Turner and Pink are all expected to give performances in the resort during the forthcoming season.

Last year the resort featured concerts by The Pussycat Dolls, Scissor Sisters, and Melanie C.
