The dates of this season’s European Roxy Chicken Jam have been announced.

The contest returns to Zell am See/Kaprun in Austria from December 14 to 16 this year.

Now in its fifth year, the event will see many of the world’s best female snowboarders compete for a 30,000 euro prize purse and precious Ticket to Ride points.

The European and US Chicken Jams are both six star TTR events – making them key events for riders hoping to win the overall TTR title.

The slopestyle contest at the Roxy Park at Kaprun’s Kitzsteinhorn will be held in a jam session format, meaning the riders are allowed to do as many runs as they want within the given time.

Five riders will go through from Friday’s qualification to meet the 25 invited riders in Saturday’s session before a grand final featuring eight riders will take place.

In 2006, the 16-year-old Jamie Anderson (USA) won the event: she was second in the TTR overall ranking at the end of the season. Cheryl Maas (NED), TTR world champion 2006, came in second and Jenny Jones (GBR) in third, leaving stars like the later TTR world champion Torah Bright (AUS), Kjersti Buaas (NOR) or Sylvia Mittermüller (GER) behind.

The Roxy Park that will host the Roxy Chicken Jam is the first park in the world that is sponsored exclusively by Roxy.

A 250 m long area, 23 obstacles, eleven jumps and twelve rails and boxes wait for riders of all skills on the snow at an altitude of 2,900 m.
