Trespass Snowboard / Skiercross Championships and Slopestyle Jam results
The British Snow Tour made its final stop of the series on Saturday October 4 at SNO!zone Glasgow for the Trespass British Snowboard & Skiercross Championships and Slopestyle Jam. The competition was fierce as riders went head-to-head in the four way races.
The Schools Tour Team also proved to be a big hit in Glasgow with over 100 enthusiastic kids taking part in the free beginner lessons, courtesy of the Trespass Lessons Academy.
The Trespass Snowboardcross Championships kicked off the snowboard competition on the Saturday morning with riders charging through the start gates and on into the head-to-head qualifying rounds, until only the fastest four male and female competitors were remaining.
In the women’s final, Jules Chappell had the gold in her sights and accelerated out of the start gates, leading the entire race and over the finish line in first place, taking the 2008 Women’s Trespass Snowboardcross Title. Second place went to Jennifer Clarke with Riona Mary Peterson taking a close third.
It was a tight race out of the start gates in the men’s final with all neck and neck until the first burm where three competitors spectacularly collided. The only kids male to make it through to the final, Tom Hunt, was quick to seize this opportunity and edged away from the pack to take the lead which he held through to the finish line to take the 2008 Men’s Trespass Snowboardcross Title, leaving Andrew Mackinnon and Gary Walsh to take second and third respectively.
During the afternoon’s Slopestyle Jam, Jules Chappell scored her second win of the day after riding super smooth all session opting for switch boardslides on the gas pipe and the up-rail. Tom Hunt, who was fresh from taking the gold in the snowboardcross, was consistently spinning on and off the rails and doing a frontflip to nose bonk over the barrel to deservedly win the under 16’s category. Whilst consistent boardslide’s, 270’s on and 450’s off on the gas pipe and sweet butter 360’s to stall on the log, secured Jaime Nicholls the top spot in the men’s final.

Second Freeride World Tour announced
Four locations around the world have been selected for the second edition of the Freeride World Tour.
The planet's top freeride skiers and snowboarders will start in Sochi with the Nissan Russian Adventure 2009 and then travel to the USA, France and Switzerland to prove their skills on some of the world's most challenging faces.
The Freeride World Tour has a prize purse of $250,000, the highest sum ever to be paid in ski or snowboard freeride contests.
Forty male and female riders plus wild cards are invited to the first three contests: Nissan Russian Adventure in Sochi (Russia), Nissan Tram Face in Squaw Valley (USA), and Nissan Freeride in Tignes (France). The final contest will take place in Switzerland with the Nissan Xtreme - Verbier 09, on the gruelling north face of the Bec des Rosses, one of the most challenging descents in the world of freeriding.
In order to allow freeriders who are not qualified for the Freeride World Tour to participate and score points, the Pro Freeriders Board elected existing international events to be part of the Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ).
The FWQ is a series of independently organised events around the world. Riders participating in those events collect points in the Freeride World Ranking (FWR), a unique ranking list for both FWT and FWQ events.
Riders from the Freeride World Tour and the Qualifier will therefore climb up and down the ranking list throughout the season.
The three best results will count to score the 2009 Freeride World Champions who will be crowned in Verbier after the Xtreme.

Burton to open second European Stash in Austria
Burton Snowboards and Flachauwinkl Resort in Salzburg, Austria have announced the development of The Stash®, the first run of its kind in Austria, which is also home to Burton's European headquarters.
Scheduled to open in January 2009, the Stash in Flachauwinkl will be the fifth run worldwide and only the second in Europe after the opening of The Stash in Avoriaz, France last year.
The Stash is an evolution of freestyle terrain in a natural environment, created by Jake Burton and the Burton global team riders.
Located on the north-side of the mountain opposite the Absolut freestyle park, the kilometer-long Stash run will follow the natural line of the mountain providing riders with an organic, big mountain terrain park.
The Stash run in Flachauwinkl will take on an 'Old West' theme and feature over 40 obstacles, including some unique features like a bridge, a saloon-style cabin, hitching posts and banked wall rides.
Also unique to The Stash at Flachauwinkl is Lil' Stash, which will include small features perfect for kids and beginner riders at the top of the Stash run. The main Stash run is aimed at intermediate and advanced riders.
"We're super stoked to bring The Stash to Austria, Burton's home base in Europe," says Burton Global Resort Director Jeff Boliba. "The Stash at Flachauwinkl will include new style features that play off the resorts' natural terrain and allow riders to get really creative."
Flachauwinkl's Park Manager Seppi Harml says, "As Park Manager, I'm more than stoked to have a Stash run in Flachauwinkl - it is the perfect addition to our Absolut Park. As a rider, I can't wait to finally ride the Stash run - just building the obstacles has already been so much fun."
The Stash can also be found at Northstar-at-Tahoe, USA; Avoriaz, France; The Remarkables, New Zealand and Killington Resort, USA.

SnowBroader relaunches as snowboard blog network
European snowboard blog SnowBroader has relaunched as a premium snowboard blog network.
"When we created our blog, snowbroader.eu, two years ago our objective was simple: bring people closer to the action and show the true spirit of snowboarding." says site co-founder Nico.
"Today, the natural next step for us is to give the power of blogging to all the people who make up our industry and lifestyle so they can do it too. We want to give them the chance to interact directly with our audience: people who really care about snowboarding and the content they will publish! We are simply providing them a tool to do it: a PROblog hosted on our Premium Snowboard Blog Network!"
SnowBroader's niche hosted blogging service is exclusively available for premium partners such as brands, riders, film production crews, photographers, events, contests, and snowparks.
"In all the cases, PROblogs are mainly an opportunity to keep it real! Be natural, informal, raw, simply yourself...and get a direct feedback from our community!" says site co-founder Phil. "For our readers, it is a unique way to get a true feel of the lifestyle, and to interact with real people from the snowboard scene. That's pretty unique and definitely a small revolution!"
Today SnowBroader already features PROblogs from the World Snowboard Day, the TTR World Tour, professional photographer Christian Brecheis, pro-riders Cyril Neri, Tj Schneider and Anne-Flore Marxer, film crews Storbis, Isenseven and Pirates, and brands such Les Ettes, FST Handwear, Eesa and Aaven snowboards; with many more to come.

Quiksilver Big Air Championships results
The British Snow Tour hit Milton Keynes on Saturday September 27, to host the Quiksilver British Big Air Championships. The huge 10m kicker set the stage as over 120 of the UK's top snowboarders and freeskiers threw down an impressive bag of tricks including stylish 7's, frontfilps and textbook 9's.
The Schools Tour Team also proved to be a big hit with over 100 enthusiastic kids taking part in the free beginner lessons, courtesy of the Quiksilver Lesson Academies.
The 2-STAR TTR Quiksilver Snowboard Big Air Championships kicked off the day's competition with more than 70 riders taking to the slope each receiving two qualifying jumps to impress the judges and make it through to the top eight men and five women finals. Youngsters, Tom Hunt, Ollie Jackson and Mel Kern were pushing up through the ranks, securing places into the final, keeping the older competitors on their toes.
In the women's final, Mel Kern continued to be on top form and landed a smooth 360 over the medium kicker to take home third place overall. Second place went to Lynsey Ashdown who stomped a stylish Indy over the big 10m kicker and Samantha Rogers, much to the delight of the crowd and judges, pulled out a huge and gutsy frontflip over the big kicker to take the 2008 Women's Quiksilver Big Air Title.
During the men's final, riders were opting for a slingshot drop in for optimum speed and amplitude resulting in some of the biggest indoor airs ever witnessed. 2007 British Slopestyle Champion, Ryan Davis, threw down some of the most stylish tricks of the day, tweaking out a frontside 720 which oozed style, to take third place. Ben Knox finished in second place after he stomped a massive backside 720, almost reaching the rafters, and with a perfectly landed textbook 900, Jamie Nicholls walked away with first place and the 2008 Quiksilver Big Air Title, continuing
