Andreas Gidlund wins Asthetiker Jam Wangl Tangl

Andreas Gidlund from Sweden won the Asthetiker Jam Wangl Tangl in Mayrhofen last weekend. He took home 850 TTR ranking points, $2000 cash, and a brand new Suzuki 250cc motocross bike for his efforts.

Elias Elhardt (GER) took second place and recent Transworld rider of the year Wolle Nyvelt (AUT) rounded out the Top 3.
Saturday’s format was changed due to poor visibility and a suddenly icy park that made things difficult for the riders compared to the previous days of qualification.

Instead of a three man grand finale, the end results were taken from the 24-man session that began mid-day. Riders were allowed three runs and had to hit both the main kicker line, and the alternative jib line at least once. Their two best runs were counted for their overall score.

Three additional prizes of $1000 were awarded for best rail, best trick and most impressive line of the day.

Andreas Gidlund was ripping up the park, going huge and getting technical. Not only did he win the entire event, but he also stomped the best rail trick of the day. Gidlund’s 50-50 to 180 to Switch 50-50 all the way to end of the 18m down rail earned him the Carhartt BMX bike that was up for grabs. His overall contest-winning run also included a FS 10, a BS 9 and a Switch BS 7.

The most impressive line went to Stefan Gimpl (AUT) who finished fourth and stomped a FS 10, a BS 5 and a Cab 9 on the kicker line.

Tyler Chorlton (GBR) landed the best trick of the day with a massive double Frontflip while Rudi Kroell (AUT), who finished fifth at the Wangl Tangl, took a huge leap in the TTR rankings, moving into the Swatch TTR Top 25.
