British snowboard teams head out to European competitions

The British World Cup Halfpipe, Freestyle, Snowboardcross and Junior Teams head out to Europe today (Thursday) to compete in two of the most prestigious European competitions of the season - the Burton European Open, Laax, Switzerland and the Nokia FIS World Cup in Bad Gastein, Austria. 

The British World Cup Halfpipe, Freestyle and Junior Teams will be heading out to Laax, Switzerland over the weekend to compete in the Burton European Open. Dan Wakeham, Ben Kilner, and Sam Cullum from the World Cup Halfpipe Team and, Dom Harington, Jack Shackelton and Kate Foster from the British Freestyle Team, will be competing against the world’s best riders in the Slopestyle and Halfpipe disciplines in Laax from the January 10 to 17 January. The Junior Squad (Lee Tarran, Aimee Fuller, Lewis Courtier-Jones, Jamie Smith, Luke Tomlinson and Will Smith) will also be competing in Laax for their first international competition appearance of the season.

James Foster and Zoe Gillings are hoping to be first out of the gates when they head over to Bad Gastein, Austria to compete in the Nokia FIS World Cup Snowboardcross Event on Thursday January 10. Zoe who recently finished in ninth place after a fall in the final rounds at the King of the Mountain, Snowboardcross event in Telluride, is confident she can improve on her recent result and has set her sights on securing a podium spot.
