British rider Zoe Gillings celebrates FIS podium place

Britain’s number one snowboardcross athlete continued her successful season by finishing in second place at the FIS World Cup Snowboardercross contest in Japan on Friday.

Zoe hit the final heat against Lindsey Jacobellis, Maelle Ricker and Melline Francon and, despite being allocated a poor lane, was able to pass Mellie Francon in the first burn.

Maelle Ricker won the race with Mellie Francon taking third and Lindsey Jacobellis coming fourth.

"Woohoo" I’m stoked. It’s amazing to be back on the podium, and I’m really please I was able to pass two girls and catch up a little bit to Maelle, I’d really like to take gold next time,” said Zoe.

Zoe finished in fourth place in last weekend’s event in Korea and heads to Lake Placid, USA on March 1 to compete in the seventh FIS World Cup event of the season.
