Boreal hosting US Snowboarding Grand Prix Jan 30 – Feb 1

The world’s best snowboarders will be competing January 30 – February 1, 2009 at Boreal Mountain Resort in the US Snowboarding Grand Prix.

The roster includes Olympic athletes Tommy Czeschin, Hannah Teter, Nate Holland, Lindsey Jacobellis and Seth Wescott, along with 2007/2008 Grand Prix Champion, Louie Vito.

Boreal Mountain Resort will host the three-day spectator event, on a custom-built Boardercross course and in the local’s favorite Boreal Superpipe, built to 22 feet just for the competition.

Going on its thirteenth season the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix remains an exclusive snowboard tour in the US with competitors vying for an overall purse of $300,000 in cash, plus the overall winners will drive off with a brand new truck.  This year the Grand Prix Tour will make three stops, Copper Mountain, CO, Boreal Mountain Resort, CA and concluding at Killington, VT.

The addition of Boreal Mountain to the Grand Prix schedule reinforces the commitment Boreal has made to world-class terrain parks.

“Obtaining the Grand Prix is a huge honor for Boreal.  The industry has recognized the hard work we have done to bring innovative terrain parks to the Tahoe area,” commented Eric Rosenwald, Boreal Terrain Park Director.  “After hosting many successful events, such as the Jibassic Pro Invitational and World Superpipe Championship, Boreal is ready to manage an event of this elite caliber.”

The U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix is spectator friendly with walk-up access or by snow with a lift ticket.  Expect great music and free giveaways throughout the competition thanks to event sponsors Nature valley, Sprint, Visa and many more.  If you are not able to ride Boreal during the event dates, stay tuned to NBC, the Olympic Network and Versus for broadcast coverage.
