South American resorts get ready for the new season

Resorts in Argentina have their snowmaking equipment cranked up and ready to go in case they need a snow top-up before they open on June 23.

Argentina is currently going through a pretty rough cold snap, and Buenos Aires is being covered with heavy fog.  Air passengers might experience as a result of a strike involving airport personnel and a broken radar system at Ezeiza airport. There have also been reported incidents of theft from suitcases.

Snow conditions in Chile are still a little sketchy - Chapelco and Bariloche received more than 40cm over the weekend and there’s more predicted in the forecast.  Las Leñas is waiting to see what a storm predicted for this week brings before making a decision on when to open.
