The UK’s biggest ever winter sports and music festival, Freesports on 4 Freeze sponsored by LG, is returning to London this autumn. Thankfully it's a different weekend to the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show this year and the event takes place at Battersea Power Station from October 30 to November 1.

World Cup Big Air contests hits Stockholm on November 22

The 2009 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup heads to Sweden for its second big air contest of the season. For the third year in a row, the 1912 Olympic stadium in Stockholm will be the venue for the event.

So Saturday saw London host its first ever FIS World Cup big air contest. And the locals were out in force to watch it – tickets were sold out as 10,000 people headed to the grounds of the coolest building in London, Battersea Power Station, to watch the snowboard action and a decent line-up of bands.

You could see the jump from miles around – the rig apparently being the one also used for the Air & Style contest in Germany. It was so tall (35 metres to be precise) that the riders had a lift to get them to the top. It got pretty windy at the bottom so I dread to think what it was like up at the top.

More details of the LG Freeze – which takes place at London’s Battersea Power Station in late October – have been announced.

- Freeze International Freeski Big Air  -  £15,000 purse plus LG Product
