Kelly Clark

Some of the top female snowboarders in the world gathered at Mammoth Mountain last weekend for the Roxy Chicken Jam.  Riders were competing, not just to win the Chicken Jam, but to be named the Ticket To Ride Global Champ. Kelly Clark kept up her strong season with another win.

Kelly Clark added another win to her impressive list this season at the third annual Cover Girl Snow Angels Invitational.  The unique event, hosted by Aspen Snowmass and Gretchen Bleiler, brings together some of the top women riders.

Glamour has a four page spread with Gretchen Bleiler, Kelly Clark, Lindsey Jacobellis and Hannah Teter in the February 2010 issue.  I knew they were doing a shoot with some of the 2006 Olympians (and 2010 Olympic hopefuls), as Gretchen Bleiler had tweeted about it a few months ago.

Kelly Clark won her 2nd US Grand Prix in a row and secured herself a spot on the US Olympic Team. Her winning run was a clean frontside air, backside 5, frontside 9, backside air, frontside 7, cab 7.  The US Olympic team will be decided by the top 2 finishes in Grand Prix events.

The second Sprint US Grand Prix event of the season has, thus far, followed the same blueprint as the first.

Kelly Clark claimed the top spot at the first Olympic qualifying event this season - the US Snowboarding Grand Prix at Copper.  Kelly put down a huge first run of frontside air, backside five, frontside 900, backside air, frontside 700, cab 7.Clark said, "I was really happy with my first run.

On a chilly day at Copper Mountain, Gretchen Bleiler grabbed the top spot in the women's qualifiers.  She'll head into the final on Saturday hoping to help secure an Olympic spot with a repeat performance. Bleiler was given stiff competition by Kelly Clark, who qualified second and is looking for her 3rd trip to the Olympics."It was great to come out this morning and have qualifiers.

The inaugural 100% Pure Winter Games came to a close last weekend amid wintry weather at Coronet Peak. The closing ceremony marked the end of an exciting 10 days of competition, including ice skating, curling, skiing and of course snowboarding. A mini Winter Olympics of sorts, attracting some of the most elite international athletes.
