We're kicking off our annual Outerwear Trend Reports with a look at Varsity Jacket trend.  Several companies are doing

Shred-a-Porter shows you softgoods that let you bring a high fashion look to the slopes. The first trend covered for 2009-2010 is OMBRE.

The ombre trend made its debut for Fall 2007 and its still. Designers like Prada, Herve Leger and Alberta Ferretti have all used ombre in their lines.

This trend, which involves colors that gradually fade into one another, has finally hit the snowboard industry. Here's a glance at few companies making use of this trend.

Plaids aren't a new trend. Every season there are a few companies offering plaids, but never have we seen so many eye popping options! When we were at SIA last January one company told us that plaids were recession proof, which might explain why pretty much every company has at least one plaid jacket and/or pants in their collections this season.

With plaids ranging from subtle to bold, big to small, and classic to crazy - there is pretty much a plaid for everyone.

In this first Outerwear Trend Report we'll take a look at what new brands and lines are on the scene for the 2008/2009 Season. Stay tuned as this series will continue with new installments bringing you all the trends for this season.

The North Face

The North Face certainly isn't new to the outerwear market, but they have introduced a new line that a lot of snowboarders will be happy about.  The North Face has always had very technical gear, but sometimes the styling wasn't quite up to par. Enter their new Ride line. This line has new fits, prints, and colors that you'll love and all those technical features you'd expect from The North Face.

Is outerwear shopping as scary as bathing suit shopping? I hope not! So why are we sometimes a size small in one brand and a size large in another?

When I was a kid I used to have these fashion templates. It was an assortment of different tops and bottoms. You would pick one of each then put them together in the holder. Then you put a paper over it and rubbed it with a crayon and you got the outlines of an outfit you could color in. It was awesome.

Holden have sent their 2008/9 season website now. Very flashy with lots of pretty video and music. Check it out at www.holden.com
